Solar installation: the electrical side, done properly

Good solar needs a good electrical backbone. We work with a SEDA RPVSP partner who handles the PV system, while Elektrika — a Suruhanjaya Tenaga-registered contractor — delivers the 3-phase supply, distribution board, earthing, surge protection, testing and TNB works around it.

Electrical works that make a solar system safe and approved

Supply and distribution

Bekalan & DB

Single-phase to 3-phase upgrade where your tariff, inverter size or ATAP application calls for it.
New or modified distribution board with isolators, breakers and labelled circuits for the solar feed.
AC cable runs, cable tray and conduit between inverter, DB and meter position.
TNB meter and supply coordination so your system can be commissioned without avoidable delay.

Earthing and protection

Pembumian & SPD

Earthing for the PV frame, inverter and DB, verified by earth resistance tests.
AC and DC-side surge protection devices (SPD) to protect the inverter during lightning season.
RCD and overcurrent protection coordinated with the existing installation.
Bonding checks so metal roofs, railings and gutters are not left floating.

Testing and handover

Ujian & serahan

Insulation, continuity, polarity and loop impedance tests on the AC side.
Written test records you can share with the PV partner, your insurer or the building owner.
Single-line diagram updated to show the new solar connection.

How we work

From survey to handover

STEP 1

Joint survey

We visit with your PV partner to review roof, DB room, meter position and supply phase.

STEP 2

Scope split

A written split: the partner covers PV design, modules, inverter and SEDA submission; we cover the electrical works.

STEP 3

Electrical works

Supply upgrade, DB, earthing, SPD and cabling installed ahead of or alongside PV mounting.

STEP 4

Test, TNB and handover

AC-side testing, TNB coordination and documented handover to the PV partner for commissioning.

Who does what

Partner delivery, one clear scope split

Elektrika works with a SEDA RPVSP (Registered PV Service Provider) partner. The partner designs, supplies and installs the PV system and handles the SEDA submission. Elektrika carries out the electrical works: 3-phase upgrade, DB, earthing, SPD, testing and TNB works. You get one coordinated project without us claiming PV work that belongs to the registered partner.

Frequently asked questions

Does Elektrika install the solar panels?

The PV system itself is designed and installed by our SEDA RPVSP partner. Elektrika does the electrical works around it: 3-phase supply, DB, earthing, surge protection, testing and TNB coordination.

Do I need 3-phase for rooftop solar?

Not always, but many systems above a small single-phase size are connected on 3-phase. Whether you need it depends on system size, TNB requirements and your tariff. We confirm this in the joint survey.

Is solar still under NEM?

No. The NEM scheme was replaced by Solar ATAP for new applications after June 2025. See our Solar ATAP guide for how this affects you, and confirm current scheme terms with your PV partner.

Why is earthing so important for solar?

Poor earthing makes surge protection ineffective and can leave exposed metal at dangerous potential during a fault or lightning event. We test the earth resistance and fix weak points before the PV system is commissioned.

Can you work with another solar company?

Yes. If you already have a RPVSP or installer, we can take the electrical scope only, as long as the interface and responsibilities are agreed in writing.
